On Saturday 25th November 2023 the West Sussex Record Office celebrated its 50th anniversary with an Open Day of the facility. The various strands of the organisation had stands for the public to explore, with booked tours of the archive material running throughout the day, which were hosted by a member of staff. These tours were all fully booked within 24 hours of their publication date. The principal guests were the High Sheriff of West Sussex, Andy Bliss QPM and Lord Egremont, President of the West Sussex Archive Society, friends of the WSRO, who cut the cake for the official opening. The museum team supported the WSRO event with a stand of artefacts from the Regimental Collection, gaining a recruit for one of the Branches in the process! There was a lot of interest in the collection, particularly in its future, with many new contacts made.
